This season the St. Mary's Aces team that was entered into the younger section of the Greater Manchester Junior Badminton League came third. The team, consisting of Jasmine Kennedy, Adam Brand, Harry Cloney & Joe Hull (front row in the photo), are former pupils of St Mary's R.C. Primary School in Radcliffe.

Although the League was formed in 2009 for junior clubs throughout Greater Manchester, it wasn't until during 2011 that St. Mary's first entered a team. Since then the team has steadily moved up from the bottom division to third overall in the Year 8 and below category, behind players from Manchester and Bolton Badminton Performance Centres. In addition an older team (back row in the photo) has competed this year in the up to Year 11 category.

Badminton was set up at St Mary's R.C. primary school and has developed into a club providing coaching for pupils from years 4, 5 & 6 at St Mary's, onto leavers now at high school, plus adults (many of who are parents of the children) with as many as 40 people now taking part in badminton at Radcliffe Riverside Community Sports Centre on a Monday night.
